This creates the unique trusting environment needed to fast-track collaboration and peers. Facilitators survey the coaches' players to gather authentic feedback that is used to customise each coach's learning journey.
Coaches learn techniques to continue the practices of self-reflection and problem-solving for the rest of their lives. The benefits flow on to their players, their organisations and their loved ones. Conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams, the ACS fits into the schedules of sports' busiest professionals. There are also opportunities for members to meet face to face, health guidelines allowing, including at the annual Aleda Summit.

The LeadLearn Cycle

There are four parts to the work we do: research, collaboration, observation and coaching.

1 Research & Analyse

Our Learning Environment Survey is all about collecting measurable data on your learning environment, to understand it better and identify areas of growth. An expert LeadLearn consultant will work with you onsite to administer and analyse your results.

2 Collaborate & Learn

The LeadLearn Cycle focuses on collaborating and reflecting in a safe, familiar and welcoming environment – your own workplace. Our consultant will facilitate an open and collaborative session between peers, to help analyse feedback and make an informed decision about where to focus your energy moving forward.

3 OBSERVE

Through the observation process, you will implement everything you have decided upon in the Collaborate and Learn session. We’ll help you to identify focus areas and interventions that can positively impact your learning environment; testing, measuring and refining as we go to ensure success.

4 Coach to Action

Our coaching model is about walking shoulder to shoulder with you through the LeadLearn Cycle. You will analyse, deeply reflect, and enact plans specific to your site and role.

Our programs

LeadWell provides the latest evidence-based wellbeing, neuroscience, and positive psychology education to support peoples' Wellbeing ability, so they have the tools and strategies to feel good and function effectively more often.

Wellbeing Programs

Our Wellbeing Programs provide participants with the knowledge, skills and strategies to improve their Wellbeing, so they can cope with life's everyday challenges and thrive. Workshops are delivered as interactive sessions to provide participants with the best opportunity for learning, personal reflection and team connection.

Meditation Program

Advancements in neuroscience over the past decade have clearly identified the significant benefits a daily meditation practice can have on our wellbeing. At Aleda we are all passionate meditators, and our bespoke meditation program has been designed to create more calmness, focus and energy in participants lives.

Breathing Program

Our communities are currently experiencing anxiety, distress, fatigue and burnout at record levels. One of the quickest ways to proactively reduce these symptoms is through the breath. Our breathing programs teach specific breathing patterns that both kids and adults can incorporate into their days to regulate the nervous system and significantly reduce stress and anxiety levels.

Why we started ACS

ACS was founded in 2020 by action-based learning trainer and lifelong sports fan Matt Wadewitz, who has observed more than 1000 educators and leaders, and has for the past five years been working closely with high-profile AFL coaches.

Matt saw that elite-level coaches were missing an opportunity to discuss the big issues in their jobs with others who ‘walk in their shoes’ in a mutually supportive, non-competitive environment.

With COVID-19 restrictions accelerating the shift to video conferencing, Matt recognised it was the perfect moment to launch ACS – an innovative way to deliver the evidence-based learning strategies he had long used and harness the collective brainpower of a group with decades of experience.

This is the ‘interschool’ version of the LeadLearn Cycle. Educators from various schools, sectors and states collaborate, research, support and share to ensure that they are at the cutting edge of best practice pedagogy. Teachers meet in online meetings and share reflections on student feedback data leading to action plans and even peer coaching possibilities.

LeadLearn Connect provides unique collaborative opportunities for educators to share best practice and enhance global connections.

Meditation

At Aleda we consider the practice of meditation the greatest gift we can provide our wellbeing. Extensive research shows the two most effective strategies to care for our overall wellbeing and increase our levels of happiness and life satisfaction are regular exercise and a daily practice of meditation.

Recent advances in neuroscience have shown meditation builds our brain muscle, by positively rewiring our neural pathways to perform better under pressure, experience less stress and anxiety and be more alert, calm and focused.

Over 350 peer reviewed scientific studies have also revealed a daily practice of meditation can have the following benefits to our wellbeing:

  • Increase in self-awareness and positive emotions
  • Improved emotional regulation and self-control  
  • Improved memory and learning ability
  • Improved sleep quality
  • Increase in energy and vitality
  • Decrease in inflammation and improved immune function

Meditation is one component of Aleda’s wellbeing programs. We take joy in inspiring people to learn the art of meditation and experience the profound impact meditation can have on their lives and the lives of those around them.
